A New Definition For Beautiful

 Whenever i call you beautiful 

i feel the need to give it a new definition 

and i hope the words i write for you

leave a mark that cuts deeper 

than a wedding ring

and i hope my voice is still in your ear 

even while you're asleep

because my thoughts of you are a

ringing in my ear that's keeping me awake

like sundays and the organ in a church

and the way your skin feels

after laying in dewy grass

and the way your hands press on my back

as you're helping me stand 

and the way my head finds rest 

laying on your chest 

i have missed being alone yet 

feeling company in your presence 

and i have missed the reason why, i define beauty with your sleepy eyes in the morning
