The Reason I Write
to write is to-
get the words out in ways
my voice could never do
on its own
to write is to-
challenge the heart to
remember the hurt
we’ve tried to bury
to write is to-
speak the pain
more eloquently
than anyone truly deserves
to write is to-
transport someone into our thoughts
if only for a little while
i wrote because
i couldn’t talk about the pain aloud
i continue because
i want to have control over the words
going in and out of my head
because even if i never speak to you again
i know i won’t ever have to let this go
because i can always
keep writing about it.
