National Poetry Month day 5

the skeleton of every woman that has died

from this sickness
is hugging you and begging
please don't give up
please don't give in
please get better
for us
because the mirrors won't always tell
the truth
the photographs don't know
how others truly see you
when you laugh
it all depends on lighting
because a darker shade
will always look better
while standing in front
of a darker mirror
but that should not reflect on how
you treat yourself during meals
stop staring at yourself in a mirror
as you take each bite
because everyone that has died will scream at you
"you're missing the point,
of who is actually sitting around you
at the table my dear"
