 When The Light Comes Back

it’s all about

who is still there

when the darkness lifts

and winter breaks through to spring

the room is bright again

the water is flowing back in the stream 

and the heat breaks open the buds on the magnolia

who stayed when the lights went out

when you couldn’t get out of bed

the cold giving in to hibernation

and who got scared 

and ran.
