A Flannel Shirt

I got rid of a flannel shirt

because it had holes in the sleeves

but now I miss it

because I realize now that the flannel shirt

was a comfort

and I got rid of it because it had holes

because it had holes

How sick am I?

holes did not mean it was broken

holes did not mean it was no longer worthy of being around

and now it’s gone because I threw it away

I have holes

yet I’m still here

and I know I’d throw me away too

if given the chance.
